What kind of inventory system should we have for items and weapons?
Does anyone have any preference or should we just re-use the old Diablo2/Deus Ex/ Oblivion systems?

I'd prefer to be able to switch weapons in modern FPS style - and between powers, and special items too - and for gods sake dont do it like STALKER
equipping stuff like armor, what weapons to carry, sure old RPG style

take that system for granted for weapons, but for items? armor? upgrades? loot? would need an inv.

I liked the Deus ex inventory system, replaying the game at the moment. I think if your going to do a system like that, then the armor and weapons you have currently equipped SHOULD NOT show up in the inventory, only appearing if you un-equip.
Also maybe have one quick bar, like Deus ex, to be able to cycle through items on the spot, rather then having to go into the inventory screen.

I like quick inventory systems in console games like Resistance: Fall of Man and the Ratchet and Clank games.
Hold a button to open the quick inventory and use the analog stick, or mouse, to point to which weapon you want to use and then release the inventory button to equip.
That could be a nice micro inventory, but for a macro inventory I think the general RPG style would be okay. Different tabs for different categories of stuff: Weapons, Items, Relics, Powers, etc...
