Let's list a number (we'd need about 8) skill categories that users could level. These categories should be 'overall' categories: it should be possible to place at least 2 other sub-categories within them. They should tell you something about the person who's skilled in them; they should also be 'linkable' to an in-game activity.

For example:


Skill category: Physical Development

Game feedback: Upgraded through running and jumping

Description: Governs the user's HP amount, running speed, [...].

Subcategories: Athleticism, Training

To explain: the category is the main 'container' that will hold its subcategories, which will then hold the specific skills that a user can buy and subsequently level. You'll unlock a new category by becoming proficient at the main category; unlocking a new subcategory after that by leveling the one you unlocked, etc.
The 'game feedback' part explains what you need to do in game to level the skill.

Remember that the ideas you give in this thread might well be used in the game. So help us out!

Here's a couple, will edit if I get some more ideas;


Skill Category: Mental Development (alternatively; Morale)

Game Feedback: Fighting, skill gain increases while on low hp, surviving encounters while on low hp, completing objectives while under fire.

Description: Governs the will to fight, making the player more and more resistant to abilities and weapons that stun, at high levels may inspire close by people with the same ability.

Subcategories: Personal Morale, Leadership


Skill Category: Power Development

Game Feedback: Using force-like powers.

Description: Governs the user's MP amount, power of force-like abilities, cooldown of said abilities, resistance to said abilities.

Subcategories: Power Resistance, Power Usage Training (better word?)
